Coal’s Goals (“we,” “our,” or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Coal’s Goals mobile application and related services (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect is used to provide, maintain, and improve the App, to track activities, goals, and rewards, and to customize your experience. We may also use the information to communicate with you, such as sending reminders or notifications, and to ensure security, prevent fraud, and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
1.1 Information You Provide
We collect information you voluntarily provide, including:
- Account Information: Name and email address when you create an account.
- Pet Information: Pet name, breed, age or birthday, photos, and activity preferences.
- User Content: Activity entries, goals, rewards, comments, and other content you choose to submit.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect certain information, including:
- Usage Information: Features used, activities tracked, progress data, and interactions within the App.
- Device and Diagnostic Information: Device type, operating system, app version, crash reports, performance data, diagnostic data, and similar technical information used to maintain app stability, troubleshoot issues, and improve performance.
- Location Information: With your permission, the App collects precise location data during active tracking sessions (such as walks or runs) to record routes, calculate distance, and display activity maps. Location tracking occurs only while an activity is actively being recorded and stops when the activity ends. The App does not make your activity routes or summaries publicly visible to other users. You may choose to share an activity summary via your device’s share features (for example, by sending a share card/message to someone), and any recipient you choose may be able to view the content you send.
1.3 Analytics and Similar Technologies
We use analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring tools to understand how users interact with the App, diagnose errors, monitor stability, and improve functionality. These tools may collect usage information, device and diagnostic information, and identifiers associated with the app installation or device for these purposes.
1.4 Photos and Camera Access
If you choose to add a pet photo or update a profile image, the App may request access to your photo library or camera. Access is used only for the selected purpose and is optional.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App
- Track activities, goals, and rewards
- Record, display, and save mapped activity routes
- Calculate distance, pace, and activity duration
- Display activity maps in your Activity Log
- Personalize content and user experience
- Communicate service-related updates and optional communications
- Improve App performance and functionality including usage trends
- Maintain security, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations
- Enable you to create and view your own content in the App (such as activities, routes, photos, goals, and rewards), and to share selected summaries externally if you choose (for example, by sending a share card/message to someone).
3. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal data. Information may only be shared with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App, such as cloud hosting or analytics providers. Information may also be disclosed if required by law, in response to legal requests, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar business transfer. Information may be shared only in the following circumstances:
3.1 Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate and support the App as noted below. These providers are permitted to use information only to perform services on our behalf.
- Cloud hosting and data storage
- Authentication services
- Analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring
3.2 Legal and Safety Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or others.
3.3 Business Transfers
If Coal’s Goals is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
3.4 Advertising and Analytics
Coal’s Goals does not currently engage in cross-app tracking or sell personal data to third parties. Analytics, crash reporting, and performance data are used to help us understand usage trends, improve functionality, diagnose errors, and identify potential issues, consistent with this Privacy Policy.
3.5 Sharing Feature
The App includes optional sharing features that let you send a share card/message about an activity or reward to someone you choose using your device’s sharing tools. Coal’s Goals does not post this content publicly or share it with other users by default. If you choose to share, the content will be transmitted through the third-party service you select (such as SMS or a social app) and will be subject to that service’s privacy practices.
4. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as necessary to operate the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When information is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized. You may delete your account and associated data directly within the App settings at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You have control over your information, including the ability to:
- Update Account Information: Review or update your information within the App
- Communications: Opt out of promotional communications. You may still receive essential service-related messages (such as account or security notices).
- Manage Notifications: Enable or disable notifications through the App or device settings
- Location Information: Control location permissions through your device settings
- Delete Your Account: Delete your account and associated data directly within the App settings
6. Security
Your data is stored using reputable third-party services. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.
8. International Access
Coal’s Goals is intended for use by users located in the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States, and you understand your information may be subject to U.S. laws.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, we will notify users through the App or other appropriate means. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
